Summary
After a cliff hanger from the last book, Arch Enemy by Frank Beddor starts in marvelous disarray as everyone who previously could exercise the power of imagination can no longer. This includes both Redd and Alyss Heart. This allows King Arch to take over Wonderland with his superior military force. This drives Alyss out of the palace and and Redd into hiding. Arch takes over the kingdom and plans on how to destroy the exiled Heart family members. Meanwhile in the secluded areas of the kingdom Redd and Alyss decide to join forces to dethrone Arch. Arch has taken the heart crystal which gives the Heart family and all imaginators their power. Alyss endeavors to find the crystal while Redd travels to the other side of the kingdom to get in position for attack. While Alyss is searching for the crystal she is met by a caterpillar oracle who shows her a scene of her family getting threatened by Arch's bodyguard back on earth. She goes to Earth to save her family there leaving all of her friends behind in Wonderland.
This allows Arch to use his new weapon he has constructed to drain the Pool of Tears. This is the portal to Earth from Wonderland. He drains the pool trapping Alyss and her bodyguard, Molly on Earth. In Wonderland the opposition to King Arch is fierce. Redd manages to find the heart crystal and with it she is able to resurrect the Pool of Tears. Alyss returns with Molly and her imagination restored. Her and Redd are able to retake the kingdom and throw Arch into the Pool to never be seen again. Redd is translated into the Heart crystal and it breaks into the air. It disperses throughout Wonderland so that the power of the Heart crystal can never again be taken.

"She had heard that it was easy to blame others for ones failures. But that wasn't exactly accurate. It was easy to blame herself for what had happened-- hard to live with it"(245).
The accuracy of this statement was surprising to me. I thought about what the quote meant and the experiences I have regretted or felt bad for in the past. Sometimes it is easy to feel sorry for yourself and take full responsibility for what you did and it sucks to have that hanging over you.
