Summary
Cinderella and the Colonel by idk who rn is a twist on the classic Cinderella story that feautures a red headed Cinderalla LeCruex, Dutchess of Averyon, She is the highest ranked Triuex noble left and by far the richest. Triuex was taken over by Erlauf years ago and since then the taxes had pushed the people of Triuex into poverty. The Queen of Erlauf, Queen Freja, and her consort rule with there military might while Cinderella has to toil with her servants just to keep her chatuea and servants. The people of Triuex harbor much bitterness and resentment for the taxes and pushy government rule which causes a rift between the two countries that seemingly can't be patched.
Cinderella is expected to marry another Triuex noble to "keep the bloodlines pure." This leaves her limited options because when Erlauf took over they executed most of the nobles. She loves her chateau and servants and knows when she marries she will have to give them up. That is until she catches the eye of a Colonel in the Erlauf army. He is high enough ranked that if she married him she could live comfortably for the rest of her life. She has very good morals and does not think the Colonel to be very genuine in his interest for her. As he asks her out date after date they slowly start to care for one another. He constantly asks to marry her, brings her gifts, and pays her for their dates. He desires to bring the kingdoms together because he knows divided they will fall to the evermore present dark magic.
Cinderella attends the royal ball so she can address Queen Freja about her growing concern of the rift between the countries. She only has until midnight to talk to her before her disguise wears off. The line turns out to be too long and she settles to talking to the crown prince. She voices her concerns to the prince and then has to storm away before the clock strikes midnight. Obviously she loses her slipper but manages to get away. The next day Colonel Friedrich proposes and pulls the ring out of the slipper he took from the stairs. It turns out he is the prince and that he chooses Cinderella to be the Queen of the two lands while he becomes her consort and the military leader of the two kingdoms.

A big theme is forgiveness as the two kingdoms harbor so much hate for one another. Once they start to forgive each other life becomes easier, people become happier, and the kingdoms strengthen.

Once you forgive you can not only heal yourself but others. It brings people together and love can drive out hate in even the most bitter circumstances.
